"This key centre for gastronomy in Lot has succeeeded in creating a perfect harmony between subtle & creative cuisine and local traditions, with a strong focus on the produce and the producers of the region. What's more, our fine meals are served in a truly unique, elegant and warm setting, with a vaulted stone ceiling. We are located in the heart of the Lot valley, at the confluence of the rivers Lot and Célé , 200m from the Lamagdelaine lake and water sports centre and 25km from Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, officially listed as one of the finest villages in France, and 6km from Cahors, the leading town of Lot and also an important historical and cultural centre. The vaulted cellar dating back to 1823 was transformed into a sheepfold, then a wine cellar and is now our restaurant.
In terms of accommodation, our charming and comfortable bedrooms (air-conditioning, whirlpool baths, satellite TV, flat screen sets) were all built in 1993 and then refurbished in 2000, and each bears the individual hallmark of frescoes by the Catalan painter, and a friend of the hotel, Cristofol Almirall. One of our rooms is also specially adapted for diabled persons. All of our rooms are laid out around the swimming pool, in an oasis of greenery, alongside the vineyard. Our philosophy is to ensure that our guests feel at home, in a truly exceptional setting. Our 2nd restaurant, the Hacienda, with an Andalusian feel, specializes in high quality chargrilled meat, spit roasted suckling pig and other Spanish specialities, served in a festive and relaxed Andalusian atmosphere from June to mid-September."
"Cahors (6km) is the administrative centre of Lot and also a major touristic and cultural draw: Valentré bridge, a fortified bridge, unique in France, built at the beginning of the 14th century. Saint-Etienne's cathedral, built at the beginning of the 12th century. The Soubirous district. Gallo-Roman thermal baths. 2 museums, Henry-Martin and La Chanterie. Views of Mount Saint-Cyr.
Further afield: Château du Roussillon in Saint-Pierre Lafeuille (9km). Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (25km) one of the finest villages in Quercy, with many pigeon lofts. Château de Cénevières (close to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie), one of the most fascinating chateaux in Lot. The village of Cabrerets and the caves of Pech Merle (25km), one of the largest prehistorc caves in Midi-Pyrénées with truly remarkable rock paintings."
