The Petite France area of Strasbourg is a neighbourhood of half-timbered houses dating back to the 15th century. This Venice of the North, criss-crossed with canals, has now been listed by UNESCO. More recently, the 17th century building on the edge of the river has been converted and the former mill is now a hotel in the grand tradition. Created with luxury in mind, it elegantly combines designer furniture and fine materials within its 300-year-old walls.
