Every day, Bernard Gay looks out across the Bauges mountains as he cooks: he has them to thank for the fresh produce from his vegetable garden, the fish from nearby lakes and, of course, Tamié cheese. Under his supervision, this former 17th century Savoyard farm has become a small inn, offering ten bedrooms in a cosy, unpretentious setting. The success of this family-run hotel also has a lot to do with Seythenex, a small mountain village with a fresh green hue in summer and milky, muffled tones in winter. This is the kind of place that should be kept out of guidebooks in order to stay secret, but it’s too late for that!
