The Galliera museum was built by the architect Paul-Rene-Leon Ginain from 1878 to 1894, on the request of Marie Brignole-Sale, duchess of Galliera, in order to show the works of art, which it then wishes to bequeath to the State. The museum is located on a place ranging between the avenue of President Wilson and the streets Pierre Charron, Brignolle and Galliera. These streets, of a width of 12 meters were opened at the time construction of the museum and have the name of the duchess of Galliera, born Brignole.
