Started in 1867, inaugurated in 1874, opened to the public worship in 1875, this synagogue of flowered Romance style, embellished of byzantine ornaments, is the work of the architect Aldrophe, manufacturer of the Thiers hotel and the synagogue of Versailles. The Victoire has following dimensions : height of the frontage : 36m; height of the nave : 28,40m; length of the nave: 44m. It has 1410 seats. The main entrance was to open on the current street of Châteaudun. But the impératrice Eugenie judged inappropriate to raise a Jewish monument between the churches of La Trinité and of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette.
