A beautiful gite full of original character set in a small village in the unspoilt region of the Tarn, South West France. If you are looking for a quiet holiday in beautiful surroundings then you have come to the right place.
The Old Blacksmiths is a fully renovated gite which can be rented as a whole or subdivided into two separate gites, La Petite Forge sleeps 5/6 and La Grande Forge up to 9 people. There is a shared pool 6 x 8 m (depth 1.50) and shared, fully fenced garden. Each gite has its own private terrace. Garden furniture, parasols and gas barbecue are freely available. The garden has a rear entrance which provides secure off road parking.
• La Grande Forge is the largest gite and has a beautiful kitchen /dining room with open plan fully equipped kitchen area with all that you would expect in a modern kitchen, there is also a large dining table. The living room has radio, CD, TV and air conditioning. There is a large sofa in the living room which can be used as a double bed if required. There is a downstairs bathroom with toilet, sink and shower.
On the first floor there are 2 rooms with double beds and a bedroom with a double and single room. There is a second bathroom on this floor with double sink, toilet and shower.
• La Petite Forge is a comfortable gite with an open plan kitchen and living space, the kitchen is fully equipped. On the first floor there is a divan which can be used as a double bed. One bedroom has two single beds and the second has a double bed. There is a shared bathroom with sink, toilet and shower.
The washing machine and tumble drier are shared between the two properties. There is a high chair available and there are 4 bicycles at your disposal.
Minimum rental period is one week, the rental period going from Saturday 4pm - Saturday 10am.
Prices include water and electricity. A small fee for final cleaning can be added if you wish to leave the cleaning to someone else.
The gites are set in a wonderful position to explore the local area. There is good walking, cycling and horse riding with a few kilometres of the house. The nearby Lac du Roucarié provides a beach, swimming, windsurfing and sailing, a bit further a field you can canoe on both the Tarn and Aveyron rivers. There are numerous « plus beau villages » in the Tarn and Aveyron to explore and the medieval villages of Monesties and Cordes sur Ciel (perhaps the most stunning) are very close.
Just 10 kms away near to Carmaux - the town which provides all your local shopping needs - you will find the adventure park of Cap Découverte, where you can have a go at dry slope skiing and sledding, water skiing, go karts, skateboards ... A great family day out.
For a taste of local culture Albi, now a world UNESCO site is just 25kms with its famous cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec museum, there is also a beautiful golf course in the city on the banks of the river Tarn. Toulouse is 85kms, a vibrant city on the banks of the Garonne with galleries, museums and shopping, it is also home to the European Space museum. The stunning Millau Bridge is within a days expedition and you can take in the Caves at Roquefort and sample the wonderful cheese.
