ACTIVITIES AND DISCOVERIES
Discover the villages of the valley with their renovated barns, their Pyrenean houses with their characteristic architecture, their Romanesque churches, some of which are listed and retain colorful frescoes, such as Saint Calixte, built in the 11th century in homage to an Aragonese martyr, which overlooks the village of Cazaux. Mont, a 30-minute walk away via a pleasant hiking trail from the gîte, is a perfect example of these villages nestled in the mountains, with the added bonus of its must-visit cheese dairy.
In winter you can take advantage of two resorts (Peyragudes 4 km and Val Louron 13 km) 10 and 20 minutes away by car, or take the SkyVall from Loudenvielle to Peyragudes. The resorts offer downhill skiing, marked snowshoe trails, ski touring. You can also broaden your scope of action with the Pass 4 Vallées which opens the doors to Saint Lary Pla d'Adet (30 min from the gondola) and Piau-Engaly (1 hour). Luchon and Super Bagnères are also accessible via the Col de Peyresourdes at around 45 min. You will find in our cottage two sledges and two pairs of snowshoes available.
In summer, many very well marked hiking and trail circuits will allow you to criss-cross the valley, or gain altitude to discover the turquoise blue lakes of the massif (Bareilles lakes, Pouchergues lakes, Caillauas…. and of course in the nearby Aure valley, the Néouvielle lakes…), and to approach the 3000 m. (hiking guides available).
Several departures of possible hikes from the village or nearby.
Thrill seekers will prefer to hurtle down the slopes on a mountain bike on one of the many marked paths, or do their paragliding baptism in one of the Loudenvielle schools. After the effort, you can recharge your batteries at the spa center of Balnéa, have fun with the family at Ludéa, or practice water activities (kayak, pedal boat) on Lake Genos.
For cycling lovers, the mythical passes of the Pyrenees are yours: Le Peyresourde, Aspin, Col d'Azet, Tourmalet, Port de Bales. In addition, each year, a stage of the Tour de France takes one of these passes or crosses the valley.
In autumn you will appreciate the palette of colors of the valley, and you will strain your ears at the time of the roar of the deer!
