The tour begins with rooms with an interesting set of paintings of Flemish and Dutch schools of the seventeenth century (Ykens - Saftleven - JA Backer) and works of the French school of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries (Natoire - Raoux - Regnault). An entire floor is devoted to the nineteenth century with a gallery of portraits of famous men of Auvergne, paintings by local artists (Cornet - Berthon - Devedeux) and sculptures (Rodin - Meissonier). The second part of the museum houses collections of decorative art objects which range from antiquity to the eighteenth century. Section Middle Ages, rich in statuary, including a Romanesque Virgin Auvergne, also allows a very fine set of early Italian and Flemish. The furnished rooms of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries are particularly interesting. For the last two periods, two areas are preferred: Civil silverware with a large representation of the production riomoise and ceramics which has a fine collection of French faience. Finally, a room is reserved for collections of weapons from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century.
