City of Excellence, Alençon bases its reputation on one of the most delicate arts, that of the famous lace point d'Alençon. The Museum of Fine Arts and Lace together the municipal collections of paintings, lace and Ethnography Cambodia. This heritage, formed in 1857, allows in particular to follow the history of lace across France and Europe. There is also a historical classification of the seventeenth and twentieth century, where the three lace techniques are represented: the time, the machine-made lace and needlepoint. Emphasis is placed on the Alençon, his technique and its evolution from its inception to the present. Video films complement the discovery of collections, which include exceptional items of which are: a lower blade to cocks in Point de France (1675) as well as work dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth century.
