The Hunting Museum, unequalled in Europe, was established in 1934 by Charles J. Hallo and transferred in 1958 to the magnificent park of the Château Royal close to the Saint-Maurice priory. The 18th century Prior's residence affords a most attractive setting for paintings of, most notably, Van der Meulen, Paul de Vos, Desportes and Oudry, and for numerous drawings and engravings with a hunting theme. Weapons, costumes, hunting horns and trophies, many of them rare and valuable items used by huntsmen and their followers bear witness to several centuries of hunting tradition in this region.
