17111 LOIX
The first church of Loix, first mentioned in 1379, lasted until the nineteenth century. In 1827, a part of the structure collapsed and the bell tower was no longer upright. Brossard, La Rochelle architect, undertook the reconstruction and expansion of the church in 1830 and is perpendicular to the axis of the old building that builds the new monument.
The pediment engraved with "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity"
In 1905 the government decided the separation of Church and State. The priests are no longer employees of the state and the law provides that property passes to local churches (the interview can not be ensured solely by the mite of the faithful, the state reserves the cathedrals). Thus the churches become municipal buildings in the town hall has an obligation to maintain. Mayors zealous decided to affix the Republican motto "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" on the front of the churches as well as the marking on the town halls.
