Poste centrale de Metz

Rue Gambetta - 57000 METZ

The post office of Metz, or hotel jobs, is a Romanesque Revival style building located on the Place du General de Gaulle in the Imperial Quarter, opposite the railway station of Metz for reasons of efficiency (speed of delivery of mail is critical, especially in case of conflict).

Mail, as well as the entire station area, was born of the will of the Emperor William II to Germanize the city of Metz after its annexation in 1870, the military structure and make the window of the German power.

The first stone of this building, designed by architects Jürgen Kröger, Gustav Ludwig Bettcher and Petrich, was laid in 1907 and was inaugurated on 1 May 1911. It is medieval-style, built in pink sandstone.
