The tip of the torch (Beg Dorchen year in Breton) is a natural peninsula located at the southeast end of the bay of the town of Audierne Plomeur Bigouden in the country. The site is a natural site since 1965.

The north side of the peninsula stretches the range of Tréguennec that extends for several kilometers along the Bay of Audierne Plozevet up. The southwest side of the Torch is the beach of Pors-Carn (Joint Penmarc'h) which extends to St. Guénolé where the Prehistoric Museum Finistere, witness the existence of an ancient human activity in the country.

Former Celtic burial at the top of the granite promontory is crowned with a mound dolmens still half-buried. These dolmens (dochen in Breton) gave the name to the forefront after francization 'torch'. During the Second World War, the Germans built blockhouses on the torch with one of them is now a first-aid station after being down to the year 1980 a refuge for homeless fixed.

The Torch is a place much visited for the activities of sports and sailing. Including surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wave-sky, bodyboarding and sand yachting. It is practiced as bass fishing and flatfish (sole, turbot, etc.).

The tip of the torch was home to the only breeding colony of European Bee-eater in Britain.

The breaking waves and strong currents sometimes make the sea very dangerous around the site.
