The highlight of the Hague, or flagship Goury 800 meters off Cape La Hague (Manche), the rock called "le Gros du Raz."
He noted the "Raz Blanchard," one of the strongest currents in Europe, and the passage of the Rout between the Cap de la Hague and the island of Alderney.
After many shipwrecks in the first "Raz Blanchard," it was decided to build a lighthouse off the coast of Auderville and port Goury.
It was built from 1834 in 3 years, both the engineer of Morice Street. Commissioned in 1837, he was electrified in 1971. Automated in 1989, the last keepers leaving in May 1990.
