The tour begins in front of a huge painting of the port of Dunkirk in 1900. It serves as a thread throughout the course in the museum. The first activity mentioned is that of Chantiers de France: models of wooden sailing ship, ship's cargo of steel and steam show the evolution of shipbuilding. The second sequence is devoted to inshore fishing (herring cart rounding up), to whaling, the "fishing in Iceland" (schooner). Then presented the life of the harbor and the many related businesses: dredging, pilotage, towage, mooring, ship repair, cargo handling (the first model of the crane dating from 1786) and tools used by dockers (hooks to take off , feet tube, flip ...). 1st floor, administrative functions.
