Musée Gustave Courbet

Set in a beautiful 18th century which was the birthplace of the famous realist painter, Gustave Courbet Museum is located, with its hanging garden, along the River Loue, in the heart of the old town of Ornans. 83 paintings, sculptures and drawings of the master of the realist school evoking the natural environment, people and scenes he encountered in Paris of the Second Empire and his beloved province to its self-imposed exile and his death in Switzerland, are on permanent display at the Museum.
