The museum, in a beautiful mansion of the nineteenth century, the rich collections of a family of merchants of Marseilles, who, seduced by all forms of art, beautifully reflected in the eclectic artistic amateurs of that era. Reflections of the tastes of a refined bourgeois society, enriched the collections over the years, and the hotel were given to the city of Marseille in 1919 by Marie Grobet, daughter of Alexandre Labadie.
