The presentation of its collections is based on several external galleries located in a beautiful garden and indoor exhibition halls showing an overview of archaeological research and heritage of the department of Charente: prehistoric and protohistoric, Gallo-Roman collections: Sculptures, mosaics, Romanesque, medieval tombs and other ensembles from abbeys or priories and several elements of the Cathedral of Angouleme and the Count's castle.
