This Museum occupies the residence of Raoul de Vermandois. It was built in the 12th century, then modified in the 16th century when the corner tower was added. The purpose of the museum, opened in 1977, is to evoke the history of Senlis by a variety of means (maps, archeological remains, silver-ware, sacred objects) as well as drawings and paintings, for instance by Thomas Couture. A fine example of carved stones from the cathedral and from the Saint-Maurice priory are also displayed. Two short films can be seen, one reviewing 2000 years of the town's history and other a detailed explanation of the sculptured doorway of the cathedral.
