Located at the foot of Kastelberg to 1034 meters above sea level, it is crossed by the Moselotte. It was built in 1983 to generate electricity and supply water to the snowmaking trails nearby. Top 70 meters for a length of 330 meters, the hydroelectric dam is managed by the Municipal Electricity La Bresse, founded in 1934.
The project has attracted in its time a strong opposition from environmentalists concerned about preserving a remarkable bog, now submerged.
