Gate Calendrale commanded the northern entrance walls Barbentane. Built in 1302, it has been preserved and recently restored. You may notice from either side of the opening in the stone-gray bluish Barbentane, the trace of bloodletting in which were housed Saracen harrows that were lowered in case of danger by Captain de Ville. Gate Calendrale was the subject of a development of the Town House (City Hall today). The work was awarded August 16, 1654 but when the upper tower was demolished, the consuls of the time they found that the area cleared was too small, and implementation was abandoned.
In 1724, harrows Saracen considered unnecessary were sold at auction for the price of 13 pounds per quintal.
