All that remains of the old Mimizan this beautiful abbey overrun by dunes at the time when the Moors were still very unstable.
It dates from the IX ° and X ° s.
In 1735, a storm strikes the tower, spreading the fire in the building and in 1790, the steeple of the cross breaks.
At the end of XIX th century, it was decided to demolish the damaged parts.
It remains today as the bell tower, massive square tower of brick and iron pan.
Mimizan Abbey is a listed building since 1986 and its portal since 1903, its bell tower, World Heritage of Humanity by Unesco since 2000.
Beautiful sculptures inside are restored.
