Fronton "Zazpiak Bat"

97500 SAINT-PIERRE

Many Saint-Pierre and Miquelon is of Basque origin. Therefore many traditions are still present in the archipelago, especially the Basque sports. Several traditional games are still played on the front of St. Peter, also known as the Bat Zazpiak. Bat Zazpiak means in Basque, the "Seven are One", an expression of the unity of the Basque culture that considers the four Spanish provinces (Alava, Gipuzkoa the, Navarre, Biscay) and three French provinces (Lower Navarre, Soule, Labourd) to form a Basque Country. The pediment is built on the site Richard Briand, a festival held during the national holiday of July 14 and the Basque party.
