Fortin de Girolata

To counter the threat of Barbary, the Office of St George, financial institution of the Republic of Genoa, decided to build fortifications to Girolata and Porto.
The construction extends the years 1552 to 1611.
During these years, the original tower "Torre great" was expanded and coupled with a second round square "Torre Mezza".
Fortifications all around making it a "fortress".
A chapel complete this building and the magazine is below.
The site is listed historic monument since 2008.
