Founded around 875 by Benedictine monks from Touraine, the abbey of Cluny Charlieu is linked to about 930, then reduced priory before 1040. The current monastery, from the late fifteenth, opens the chapter house by a Roman colonnade. From there you enter the chapel of the prior (late fifteenth). Two museums (and lapidary of religious art) have also been built in the parlor and an old cellar. For an embattled gatehouse, you enter the courtyard of the Hotel du Prieur (early sixteenth).
